About Geoffrey Richards

Geoffrey Richards currently serves as Head of US Debt Finance and Restructuring for Canaccord Genuity Inc., a global investment bank and asset management firm. Prior to working for Canaccord, he was Group Head of Special Situations and Restructuring at William Blair & Company for six years. Prior to William Blair, Mr. Richards was Managing Director at Giuliani Capital Advisors LLC and a Partner at Kirkland & Ellis LLP in its restructuring practice.

Geoffrey Richards is an expert in refinancing, restructuring, selling companies and recapitalizing. He advises distressed company constituencies as well. With over twenty years of complex transaction experience, he has advised both public and private companies, private equity sponsors, hedge funds and other major constituencies in financing and restructuring transactions.

Richards is actively involved in many other endeavors and philanthropic causes.  He is an adjunct professor at Northwestern Pritzker School of Law, where he has been teaching since 2001. His current and prior board positions include: Make-A-Wish Foundation (Contributions Committee), the Turnaround Management Association, Illinois Lottery Control Board, The Hill School, The Ronald McDonald House, UNICEF Midwest Region and the River North Dance Company.
