In addition to the executive position that he currently holds with Canaccord, Richards is dedicated to charitable causes and serving his community.  He is a Trustee of The Hill School, a position he has held since June of 2009.  He was a member of the Illinois Lottery Control Board, completing his term in June of 2015.  He served a two year term on the Board of Directors for the U.S. Fund for UNICEF whcih concluded in 2013.  Mr. Richards was a member of the Contributions Committee for the Make-A-Wish Foundation in Illinois from March of 2009 until March of 2012.

He has also served on the Board of Trustees for The Ronald McDonald House (Madison), the River North Dance Company in Chicago, and the Turnaround Management Association. He was on the President’s Council for Brooklyn Law School.
