Geoffrey Richards Promoted At Canaccord Genuity

In December of 2015, Geoffrey Richards was promoted to Head of US Debt Finance & Restructuring at Canaccord Genuity. He began working at Canaccord Genuity in July of 2013 as Managing Director, Head of US Special Situations and Restructuring.

When Mr. Richards joined the firm, Dan Daviau, President of Canaccord Genuity Inc. said, “I am pleased to welcome Geoff to Canaccord Genuity’s investment banking team. With over 18 years of complex transaction experience, Geoff’s knowledge and role expands our restructuring capabilities in the US and builds off of the leading restructuring practice Canaccord Genuity has built in Canada and the UK.”

Now, with his current promotion, he will be responsible for the firm’s US debt advisory business with a team of bankers based in the New York City office.

Canaccord Genuity Wins 2 of the M&A Advisor Turnaround Awards

On December 9, 2015, M&A Advisor announced the winners of the 10th Annual M&A Advisor Turnaround Awards. The competition included over 200 participating companies. The judges were comprised of an independent panel of industry experts. Canaccord Genuity, where Geoffrey Richards is the Head of US Debt Finance and Restructuring, won awards in two categories. Canaccord Genuity won in the Distressed M&A Deal of the Year category ($50MM to $100MM) and they won in the Healthcare and Life Science Deal of the Year category. Both awards were received for their work on behalf of PhotoMedex Inc.

The other categories in which winners were selected include:  Restructuring of the Year, Transaction of the Year, Refinancing of the Year, Sector Deal of the Year, Firm of the Year, Turnaround Product/Service of the Year and Professional of the Year.  The award ceremony will take place at a gala on Thursday, January 28th, 2016 at the Colony Hotel in Palm Beach, Florida.

Turnaround Management Spring Conference

I served as co-chair for the Turnaround Management Association’s 2013 Spring Conference Committee. My fellow co-chairs were Scott A. Eisenberg and Pankal Gupta.

Beginning May 14, the event gathered leaders in turnaround management, corporate restructuring and distressed investing in Chicago.

As managing director at William Blair & Company and as Head of the Special Situations & Restructuring Group, I specialize in refinancing, recapitalizing, restructuring and selling companies, both in and outside chapter 11.
